Week 5 of Home Learning in Year 4
V.E. Day 75th Anniversary
Today is a Bank Holiday; that means that most people (including you!) do not have to work. So this list is just if you want to do something to remember the ending of World War Two 75 years ago today.
- There is a two minute silence at 11am like we have on Remembrance Day in November.
- Do the V.E. day dance at 4pm: https://dancesteps.co/vera-lymm/
- Have a fancy afternoon tea ‘street party’ that is just in your house or garden. Your street might be doing a ‘lockdown’ V.E. day commemoration party where you are all in your own front gardens at the same time having tea or milk and cakes, but staying a safe distance away from each other.
- Look at these ten fascinating photos from the Imperial War Museum https://www.iwm.org.uk/history/10-photos-of-ve-day-celebrations They didn’t need to do Social Distancing that day – look at the crowds!
- Decorate your house with bunting - here are some ideas https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/4TrqYDyf4PMdLypxzyTwGDg/great-british-bunting
- Check with your parents what you might want to watch on Television today. Some of the programmes are on after your bedtime, but you might be able to watch on catch-up at the weekend.
- Watch this Horrible Histories Winston Churchill Special on BBC iPlayer https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b063j3ts/horrible-histories-series-6-10-wily-winston-churchill-special
