Welcome to St Monica’s Nursery
We pride ourselves on being a home away from home setting where children aged 2-4 years settle in quickly and start their early years journey feeling safe and secure. Our highly qualified, caring staff ensure that all our children get the best possible start, building strong friendships from day one. We encourage and support children to be independent in their learning and development and allow them to take the lead by following their own interests. This is achieved through ‘in the moment planning’ allowing children to follow their interests while staff observe and extend to stretch and challenge the child’s thinking.
Our children have full access to both our indoor and outdoor environments throughout the day. They have plenty of time to choose where they want to play and what they want to play with!
We have a large variety of loose parts/open ended resources which promotes creativity and critical thinking skills during play.
Our vision is...
To provide a safe, supportive and enabling environment to allow children to play, learn and develop to their full potential. Working in partnership with parents to provide an all-round holistic support system for our children. Enabling them to build the knowledge and skills they need, to be resilient enough to fulfil their dreams and live as confident, successful and caring individuals.
Our Motto: If you believe it, you can achieve it!
Our 3 core values of Dream, Believe and Achieve drive our creative curriculum and underpin all that we do.
Dream: Our children dare to dream knowing no boundaries. Through the individual experiences our curriculum offers, our children’s ambitions and aspirations are unlocked. These experiences allow them as individuals to develop their own passions and interests and become invested in their learning, leading to a sense of drive and motivation which allows them to reach their potential and achieve their dreams.
Believe: Our children learn to believe in themselves and be proud of their local community. They understand the importance of their actions and the part they play in the diverse wider world. Through a strong self-belief leading to a positive physical and mental well-being, our children are equipped to take risks and overcome any challenges they may face. Children will leave St Monica’s Nursery as compassionate individuals with a belief that everyone should be valued and respected.
Achieve: Through our personalised and tailored curriculum, children at St Monica’s Nursery are taught to be responsible, resilient and embrace challenges feeling their successes. Memorable learning experiences allow our children to retain knowledge, apply skills and develop links in their understanding. In turn, children leave St Monica’s Nursery as confident and independent little learners.

We provide weekly forest school sessions for our children, on site in our woodland area. This is a wonderful and exciting opportunity for our children to get outdoors, explore nature and learn to appreciate the beauty of the natural world. Sessions take place all year-round allowing children to observe and experience the natural changes that happen during each season.
Forest school can help children to develop:
- social skills
- communication skills
- self-esteem and confidence
